A gold color metal and enamel insignia 1 3/16 inches (3.02 cm) in height consisting of a scarlet disc the upper part bearing the inscription FLEET AND FORCEFUL in gold letters, and the lower part surmounted by a gold color embattled wall rising from two green mounds conjoined horizontally; overall a white winged arrow with gold barb, the notched and extending beyond the base of the mounds and the barb beyond the upper part of the disc between the words and and forceful.
The winged arrow stands for the Groups mission of employment in the Air Defense of the United States. The Indian type of arrow and the fortified mounds built by prehistoric Indians, both refer to the area in Ohio where the Group was activated in 1966. The colors scarlet and gold are used for Artillery.
The distinctive unit insignia was approved on 6 June 1969.
